Rainbow Montessori Preschool
Calm Spaces, Curious Minds
Imagine a classroom of very young children, where it feels peaceful, concentrating to do something.
They look busy working and figuring things out.
Everything is neat and ordered.
A child spills some water, he cleans it up.
Another child sweep the floor after her snack.
Several children walk along shelves of jobs, pick one to work.
Some times a child wait for teacher to show a special lesson.
They work, rest, then continue to work again with their own pace. They take care of the classroom, they are gentle when handling materials and tools. Their day is full of learning engagement in a calm, prepared environment.
You might be seeing a Montessori classroom.
About Us
Dear families, it is an honor for us to meet you.
Our family formed Rainbow Montessori Preschool Inc. in order to bring you the Montessori education in Rancho Cucamonga. We are excited to have your family join us in this journey. Our school embraces the Montessori philosophy and curriculum, and we are affiliated with the American Montessori Society as our commitment to bring the authentic Montessori education.
Montessori Education is a child-centered, scientific approach to education fostering independence, freedom within limits, and respect for a child’s natural psychological development. It emphasizes hands-on, self-directed learning in multi-age classrooms using specialized materials to cultivate concentration and a genuine love for learning. Children taught in Montessori education often develop the spirit of peace, helpfulness and kindness that builds their role in the community. That is the foundation of their development as little amazing people before all academics.
On the academic aspect, Montessori curriculum has 5 main areas:
Practical Life
Sensorial
Math
Language
Culture Studies
Which includes Geography, Botany, Zoology, Science, Art, and Music
Practical Life Skills
Children engage in meaningful real-life activities that refine fine motor skills, bring confidence in self-care, care for others, care for the environment. Examples are dressing, using tools, cleaning, sweeping the floor, serving foods, caring for plants, caring for the classroom.
The curriculum also teaches Grace and Courtesy which is specific, respectful social behaviors and manners to foster respect, empathy, and community.
This is the beginning of Montessori values in the curriculum that nourish: Independence, Concentration, Coordination, Responsibility and Order.
Sensorial Learning
Our sensorial materials help children learn through hands-on exploration using their senses—touching, seeing, and experiencing concepts in a meaningful way. Children work with materials that isolate one concept at a time, allowing for deep understanding and mastery. Children explore:
-
Size and dimension
-
Shape, volume and spatial awareness
-
Color recognition, matching, grading
-
Texture and touch (rough/smooth, soft/hard)
-
Sound discrimination (identifying differences, pitches in sound)
-
Weight and pressure (heavy/light)
This approach helps children move from concrete learning to abstract thinking, building a strong academic foundation and making a path for logical and mathematical mind development.
Math Development
Our math program focuses on deep understanding through hands-on learning. Using concrete materials, the children understand the fundamentals of math deeply. Depend on child’s readiness, they will learn:
Early Math (Ages 2–4)
-
Number recognition and counting
-
One-to-one correspondence
-
Sorting and classifying
-
Patterns and sequencing
-
Comparing quantities and other variables
-
Measuring and volume exploration
-
Shapes, geometry and spatial awareness
Advanced Math (Ages 5–6)
-
Addition and subtraction with concrete materials, up to thousands
-
Place value (units, tens, hundreds, thousands)
-
Skip counting
-
Operations with written problems
-
Fractions
-
Introduction to time and basic data concept
Language
The program focuses on spoken language, phonetic awareness, writing (creating words with the moveable alphabet), and reading. Pre-language activities include conversation building, rhymes, storytelling, opposites, pattern, It moves from concrete materials to abstract concepts, emphasizing, in this order, sound identification, letter-sound correspondence, word building, and sentence structure.
They will use a movable alphabet to construct words, sentence before they write on lined paper. This prepares children for a successful transition into kindergarten, or even beyond.
Cultural Studies
Refers to the whole aspect of the world: geography, history, science, cultural diversity, art and music:
-
Zoology & Botany Science (animals, plants, habitat, natural environment)
-
Geography (maps, countries, continents, the earth and solar system)
-
Culture (history, people, community, traditions and diversity)
-
Music & Art (creative expression, music appreciation, musical instruments, development of listening skills, rhythm, musical terms, musical cultures)
Not all Montessori schools are the same, any school may call themselves Montessori without fully implementing it.
We are a Member School of the American Montessori Society. In order to obtain the School Membership, the Head of School must be a member of the AMS. We are following their core principles: mixed-age group, child-led learning, uninterrupted work-cycle, specialized Montessori material and trained teachers.
The creativity curriculum will also be utilized under Cultural Studies area to meet different children’s uniqueness, interest and capability. This dual approach is meant to make sure our program can serve children better.
The Primary classroom is often for children 3 to 6, sometimes 2.5 to 6 in a mixed-age group setting that fosters a sense of community and leadership where older, more experienced children help their younger peers. We are planning for children from 2 to 3 to be in a Pre-Primary classroom, where they will be familiarized with the Montessori routine, develop self-care skills, and get ready for the academic approach.
Physical Education is an essential daily routine in our program. Each day, children will engage in group activities such as dance, aerobic exercise, fitness, yoga in a fun and engaging way. These intentional activities are meant to promote movement, strength, reflex, endurance and body coordination. We promote mental well-being, fosters confidence, resilience, and also establishes healthy lifelong habits.
